| Description | The goal of the project is to create a digital art guide for the county of North Jutland aimed at children and adults, and to contribute to an increase in the use and awareness of art in the region. Among other things the project portal will allow a total overview of museums, galleries, artists' associations, exhibitions, workshops open to the public etc. The ambition is to create a comprehensive list of contemporary artists of the county, representing each of them with a CV, portraits etc. We can put digitized art on display, i.e. digital photos of existing paintings, sculptures etc., or digital art in the sense of art created directly for the digital media. This will allow citizens an overview and direct access to contact each artist. The idea of the project is to offer new experiences to the citizens using virtual galleries and by supporting the local artistic environments, for example by introducing the digital artist of the month. Another wish is to make the portal a catalyst for new ways of collaboration and relationships between institutions and artists. Children and young people's art is included as an essential part of the portal with the aim of making these artistic productions available to a wider public via the Internet. The children and young people's art, too, can be digitized physical pictures or digital art produced directly for the Web by the children. Another mainstay of the project is a collaboration with cultural institutions and players outside of these environments. For example the industrial sector might put the portal to use as an approach in search of artitistic service etc. The project was created in a collaboration with the North Denmark Regional Library and the Aalborg Kunstpavillon. In charge of the project is the North Denmark Regional Library represented by Kirsten Boel, City Librarian, and the executive projectmanager is Torben Wendelboe, team lead of the Nørresundby Library. The project was launched around 01.05.02, and the portal is expected to be reality by the end of 2003.
