| Description | Nordjyllands Mediecenter - The Media Centre of North Jutland - is the initiator of an upcoming live cultural portal on the Internet: A portal, that will be acting as a cultural/TV-channel on the Web – using live video, audio and text.
On the portal we will present the interesting side stories to the events, making it an experience in its own right. A facility that will attract a greater public to the cultural institutions, as the portal will not distract the focus from the culture to be experienced on location.
The Internet is not to be a replacement for 'real' experiences, but it will to an increasing extent offer information on good cultural experiences to the public. So the Internet is to be regarded as a unique supplement to the physical world.
In short the intention of the project is using the Internet to present some of the cultural offers of North Denmark that are already in the process of being, for example by covering the setting up of a play in a theatre, the creation of a work of art, or the building of a new aviary in the Zoo.
The Kultnord portal will put a face on those who are working behind what the public will see and experience in real life.
In the pilot project it is the intention to record video and sounds on site at the institutions involved. The digital material will then be edited and made available on the portal via video streaming. And the portal will be featuring reports of other cultural offers along with an arrangement/activity calendar with links to the various institutions and an opportunity for the user to participate interactively.
Obviously the goal of the project is to ensure the portal a sufficient foothold to remain on the Internet. Here and now we need to gain enough experience to attract a long range of cultural institutions and make them interested in contributing to the continued development of the portal.
The portal will test the limits of the possible and what will be possible – and via pilot projects it will show the way to go for cultural institutions of North Denmark. The presence of cultural activities is an important parameter in recruiting qualified resources to Norh Jutland.
The vision is an employment of IT technology to provide an extended contact between commercial interests and the interests of the users of cultural offers. And the branding of the cultural offers in North Denmark should help attracting and retaining qualified human resources to the region.
The Internet is rapidly breaking down borderlines and eliminating barriers of language and geography, thus enabling new ways of learning, new cultural relations and new impulses and interactions.
The Nordjyllands Mediecenter is in charge of developing the Kultnord portal, and during the project period it is hosted at the Nordjyllands Mediecenter. The media centre will provide facilities and technical equipment in the project. Furthermore technicians from the fields of IT and TV will be involved. |
