| Description | Electronically Enabled Service to the Citizens of North Denmark
Within short time the citizens of North Denmark will be able to contact their municipal administration any time that suits them best - around the clock.
The 'Digital Service to the Citizens of North Denmark' project will focus on the requirements of the citizens. In that way the services of the municipality will to a much higher degree be rendered on the terms of the citizens. Within the next year's time the following services will be at the disposal of the citizens:
· Self service via the Internet in a range of fields – e.g. application for a building permit, calculation of housing allowance, recordings of meter readings, changing one's doctor, and the children's ranging on waiting lists for e.g. day-care centres
· Extended access to public information - including basic social information providing an answer to 80% of most frequently asked questions from the citizens to the municipal services
· Security is provided against the citizens being ”monitored” on the Internet, that the information on the citizens are not tampered with, and making sure that the Municipal Web page is indeed the one issued by that municipality (and not a faked one)
· Extended business hours – Phone the municipality as late as 23.00
· A simple and easy to grasp entry to all municipal information on the Internet via a shared regional portal , - the North Jutland Way. This is the quicker and easier way for the citizens to find what they are looking for – and for example, services can be compared across the municipalities
The project is the result of a cooperation between the municipalities of Brønderslev, Dronninglund, Frederikshavn, Sejlflod, Sindal and Støvring, and the KMD (Kommunedata). Some of the 6 municipalities are offering a limited range of the above-mentioned services.
Over the recent years the Internet technology has developed from being an uncommitted pastime into the most vital means of communication of the International Community. The previous ”cult object” available only to the chosen few dedicated computer nerds with an explorative mindset is history.
The majority of today's citizens are Internet users and there is a demand for a Web that is a simple and safe place to navigate – and it should offer flexibility and value in the daily life of the individual.
The service solutions we are about to offer the citizens can replace or supplement a number of personal calls on the town hall, and the project meets a range of today's requirements from the citizens. This in turn enables the possibility of meeting future requirements and expectations.
The paramount general aim is to harness the potentials of the technology in creating a firm foundation for an enhanced service for the citizens of North Denmark.
The time frame for putting the new facilities at the disposal of the citizens is:
· Autumn 2001: Electronically enabled self-service, extended access to information, security against being ”monitored” etc. And extended municipal business hours
· Spring 2002: A common North Denmark entry to the Internet (Regional Portal, First Version) |
