| Description | Project GoalThe project will establish an Internet portal using information retrieval and interactive educational counselling to offer information and guidance on education in North Jutland. This is aimed at applicants for advanced studies and others investigating the openings and options within advanced studies in the region. The portal will include all educations on all levels from post primary school to long term advanced educations and educations for the labour market as well as supplementary/further training for all ages.
The project will also focus on an enhanced study counselling function by establishing a North Jutland Counsellors' Forum on the Internet in order to contribute to the sharing of experience and cooperation across the educational institutions of the region.
In a joint co-operation between the educational institutions of North Jutland supplemented by the competences of an IT developing house within system development, the project will achieve the following goals:
Interactive Study Counselling
Interactive study counselling is regarded a potential supplement to the personal counselling rendered via the traditional study counselling on the educational institutions. In a pilot project feasible ways to establish an interactive study counselling service will be tested. The interactive study counselling could be based on enabling potential students to encircle a range of educational options by entering a series of information, e.g. age, educational background, geography, interests, skills and gifts, the intended duration etc.
Information Retrieval
Via information retrieval the portal will offer information on educations and educational institutions in North Jutland. Examples of options for a query: Queries on geography, subject, duration and level etc. The Portal for Education will include relevant links and references to already existing portals and other relevant references.
Counsellors' Forum
A delimited part of the portal will be used as a counsellors' forum for the presentation of news to the entire group of counsellors. As part of the solution chat rooms and news groups for counsellors will be established for sharing experience.

The primary target group of the project consists of:
Those seeking counsel with a need of information on educational options in North Jutland, including prospect students, existing students, their parents etc.
Others with an interest in retrieving information on educations, e.g. teaching staff, enterprises etc.
Study counsellors on the educational institutions in the region. |
