| Description | A main object of the Digital North Jutland and the Digital Denmark is to disseminate the knowledge of the new technology and its uses to the widest possible part of the population. The intention is that every citizen regardless of his or her social and financial situation should be enabled to take part in the process of democracy and developing the society. Today and in the future, large parts of the information stream will go via IKT. Therefore a knowledge of this media is crucial for participating and influencing the attitudes that are brought up.
New surveys state that 46% of all Danish adults have inadequate reading skills. The reasons could be many, and the problems of each individual can vary a lot. Still, it does not change the basic problem, that a large part of the population is at risk of being marginalized in relation to the remaining society due to lack of opportunities for education.
"E- learning" is a distance learning project for adults with inadequate reading skills who often refrain from attending education because:
They do not trust that they can make it/ find out how to use the technology
Oftentimes they are coping with other problems which are blocking the view of taking up new challenges
They have no relation to places where they can make use of the offers
"E - learning" should be regarded as an attempt to:
Obtain experience with new ways of teaching
Establish an Internet access especially designed for the target group
Develop a certified course in basic PC skills for people with reading and writing difficulties
The project is developed in a cooperation with the County of North Jutland Institute of Language, Speech and Brain Disorders and the ITEM Group of Aalborg |
