| Description | The purpose of the project is initiating and comparing two courses that will link the supplemental education of teachers with the integration of IT in education. One course will be completed at VUC Østhimmerland, and another at the Nursing School of Vendsyssel.
The supplementary education will be initiated as a job related learning, with two or more teachers completing a course in which the supplementary education is organised as a study group work and teamwork on actual teaching. A process consultant is assigned to each course to make sure that IT is integrated in the education beyond the normal use of word-processing and educational applications. It will be up to the teachers involved to determine the span of the subjects in the courses, i.e. whether the courses should be of a single-subject or cross-disciplinary nature. Experience from the project is accumulated via evaluation phases which will eventually result in an example model for completing a job related supplementary education of teachers considering a further integration of IT in their teaching.
The common ground for the project is adult education, and the special nature of the project is its accumulation and comparison of experience in two entirely different educational environments, on one hand a VUC adult educational centre, and on the other the education of nurses. The project will investigate to which extent it is viable to interrelate the experience made by these two educational environments.
Via the job related supplementary education a further integration of IT into the education will take place, and this will simultaneously upgrade the qualifications of both students and teachers. The experience gained from this will have further implications to the educational institutions involved as they will set an example of how other teachers of the two institutions could integrate IT in their teaching. The external presentation of such experience
will also be an inspiration to teachers within other types of educational institutions on how to complete this process. This way the project will make a significant contribution to the work on more extensive IT-strategies that is carried out by the educational institutions of the County of North Denmark. |
