DescriptionPurpose
Everyone with an interest in the production of food articles will now get a Market Place to visit.
The purpose of the project is to develop a market place on the Internet for the sharing of agricultural knowledge. This means a place where farmers can share experience, discuss new ideas and methods and work together in project groups. In addition to the practicing farmers, the project groups are manned by consultants and researchers. This will ensure the availability of the most updated knowledge to the farmers, and that advisers and researchers are fully updated on current issues and topics that require a stand and through investigations.

The Market Place is a virtual alternative to the established 'experience-groups'. It will be a common ground for co-operations for new activities in virtual project groups and an open debate on the Web. The Forum will link the knowhow held by AgroForum within competence development to the consultant service of Landbocenter Aars, by e.g. linking on to the work carried out by AgroForum to involve virtual farming in education.

The goal is to develop a virtual market place where:

-farmers meet farmers in 'experience-groups'
-farmers meet consultants and researchers in project groups
-farmers meet a variety of all players in the field, e.g. consumers and interest groups in the open forum for discussions. This will provide an opportunity for a fast and direct exchange of knowledge between the parties involved on any subject that requires clarification. And completely new subjects can be taken in for a discussion in a wider circle and contribute to initiating or accelerating the development of new knowledge and competences.

Target Group
The target group will be farmers, primarily from the Western part of Himmerland, but on a long term from all over the country. As the concept spreads, an initiative will be taken to make it International, primarily via the network of contacts already established by AgroForum and their partners.

Background
Agriculture is developing turbulently in many ways. This leads to a host of changes, e.g. a rationalized production and the farms growing larger. All the while an adaptation is required to meet the increasing demands for environmental considerations and consumers requiring knowledge of the methods of production for food items. This in turn poses great demands for competence development within the agricultural sector considering professional as well as personal and general qualifications.
