| Description | The purpose of the project is to further the development of qualifications by developing and implementing a virtual centre, the task of which is to co-ordinate the requirement for development and resources as well as to offer and complete e.g. IT based learning activities to management and employees of the vocational schools in the North region.
In practice, a common, non profit, virtual centre will be established. By using the schools' own resources, e.g., educators, detailed courses and curricula as well as experience and the knowledge developed in the daily work of the vocational schools, the resources will be optimised, and the schools will undergo a development.
EUC NORD is the organisation in charge of the project, and other participants are: Skive Technical College, Aalborg Technical College, EUC Midt, Viborg, Struer Vocational College, Thy-Mors Technical College & Technical High School, The Aars vocational colleges, Holstebro Technical College and Skjern Technical College. Together these educational institutions constitute the North Region.
The preamble reads: The continuous development of society and industry is heavily depending on the development of qualifications. One of the prerequisites for this is that exactly those persons and institutions who are to organise the learning will need to develop their own qualifications, too.
IT offers new and unique potentials to enhance the development of qualifications, and this also applies to larger scale collaborations that may also be spread geographically and professionally. The establishing of the Virtual Centre for Qualification Development of the Northern Region should be regarded in this light. The Centre should make the development of qualifications efficient and systematize it while at the same time providing more, better and new offers. The concept should contribute significantly to meeting the visions of The Digital North Denmark and have a notable disseminating effect.
The goal of the project is to:
Provide more ways to go in developing management and employees of the vocational colleges
Provide better developing potentials for management and employees of the vocational colleges
Provide new ways to go in developing management and employees of the vocational colleges
Make the qualification development efficient and systematised for the vocational colleges
Establish and test a virtual qualification centre – as an organisation and as a system
Develop a concept, to be offered to and/or extended with other partners
In spring 2000 a pilot project was completed under the same title with support from the Centre for Human Resources. The analyses of the pilot project and the practical experiences that were made formed the basis of the project application for the Digital North Denmark.
The total budget of the project is 4,408,725 DKK. The Digital North Denmark has supported the project with 1,361,125 DKK. The project runs in 2001 and 2002. |
