| Description | The goal of the ViLL project is to create a centre in North Denmark for research, development and knowledge within e-learning, which is open to users from the entire region. The project is based on the active research in learning processes and IKT that is carried out at the University of Aalborg and is thriving on a good collaboration with enterprises and institutions, local, national and international.
The project consortium behind the ViLL project consists of:
IBM Danmark A/S
Ericsson in Denmark
Telia Telecom A/S
EUC NORD
The University of Aalborg, IT Innovation
the SparNord Foundation
the University foundation of North Jutland
E-learning lab North Denmark
The core of the conversion and development efforts within the ViLL-project will be the establishing of the E-Learning Lab North Denmark - an exploratorium to support the new virtual learning environments and ways of learning.
The E-learning Lab North Denmark will be a combined research, developing and didactic centre, which will make a landmark in e-learning on a regional, national and international scale. The E-Learning Lab North Denmark should provide easy access to the most updated technology, the most recent research based knowledge on IKT and learning, and to consultancy service and hands-on experience with IKT in various learning contexts.
Four columns will carry the E-learning Lab North Denmark:
-System development and experiments with the most recent technology.
-Support and sparring in relation to actual implementation of IKT in an educational context
-Procurement of research and knowledge in IKT and learning, in the shape of networks, databases and Web
-Research and development in IKT and learning
Experiments and tests
Educational experiments and tests will be an important aspect of the E-Learning Lab North Denmark. On a grand scale various educational experiments will be carried out on a University level including supplementary education. Distance learning and experiments in an enterprise context are other fields of experiment. On the University of Aalborg around 3,000 students on 11 various educations on a conventional or distance basis will be involved in experiments. EUC NORD will establish supplementary education for enterprises, and Ericsson Danmark will contribute to the project by developing distance courses for its employees.
Once the project is concluded, these experiments are intended to take a functional and permanent form, and the experience made in the experiments, -for better or worse, should be at the disposal of other companies and institutions.
Shares in E-Learning Lab North Denmark
In order to make sure that the activities of the ViLL project will be focused on the actual requirements and problems experienced by educational institutions and supplementary education in the region, industries and institutions will be offered ”shares” in the E-Learning Lab North Denmark. The return of investment on these ”shares”, offered at a price of DKK 10,000 annually, can vary, e.g. consultancy, development, evaluation or other services. The ”share holders” could be companies and institutions wanting to monitor the project on a close range and to a limited extent contribute to some of the experiments.
Contact has already been made to two potential ”share holders”, the Skagen Digitale Byhøjskole, wishing to collaborate with the E-Learning Lab North Denmark on qualification development and an evaluation of the Billeder i Skagen - Digital Gallery of Modern Art project, and with Doorways Education A/S, the second greatest provider of interactive educations on CD-ROM in Northern Europe.
