Comprehensive Description
The Centre for the Network Society is a new company under NOVI A/S, established with the object of putting an extra emphasis on the utilization and profiling of the experience accumulated in the projects of The Digital North Denmark – both among the winning projects and the remaining projects.
The Aim of the Centre for Network Society is to:
Identify the commercial aspects of experience and results in projects set off by The Digital North Denmark.
About the Centre for the Network Society:
The Centre for the Network Society will identify the viable quality IT projects. Make sure that they are developed further to the full of their potential. Profile them and make them commercially viable. Provide the funds required. Find partners. Ensure the viability of the projects beyond the project cycle of 3 years.
Initiators of the Centre for the Network Society are to be found both in the county, the municipality and a line of private investors, e.g. the Obel Family Foundation, The Spar Nord Foundation and the Otto Mønsted Foundation, who have all expressed their wish for the Digital Lighthouse to leave permanent marks far beyond the 3-year project funding period, and a spreading of knowledge from the County of North Denmark to the remaining country.

Further co-funding and/or Profiling following or maybe even during the 3 year funding period.
The initiating step will be a non-committing dialogue with the project enterprise for an assessment of the viability and commercial potential of the project beyond the 3-year funding period.
The IT Lighthouse of North Denmark Moves to Downtown Aalborg:
This autumn the secretariat of the Centre for the Network Society which is manned by 4 employees will move to their own office in the centre of Aalborg – the ”Brohuset” near the road bridge crossing the Limfjord.
In parallel with the above-mentioned activities, an IT Incubator environment will be established with all the facilities required for new IT enterprises that can rent office resources in the 'Brohuset' following the same service model as for the buildings of NOVI in Aalborg Ø. |
