| Description | The project aims to build a knowledge sharing system for mobile project workers of enterprises in North Denmark . The specific point of departure will be the building and construction sector developing a knowledge sharing system to streamline the project workflow for mobile builders and building project managers / resident architects / resident engineers (the employees assigned to the project). The results from the building / construction sector will be made universal and applied in other sectors. To this end a network will be created for Mobile Knowledge Sharing in North Denmark that involves small and medium-sized enterprises representing the building and construction sector, the IT-sector and other selected sectors (tourism, fishing, agriculture, production and service). The object of the network is to establish a community for enterprises and suppliers with common goals and interests and challenges to unite across enterprises and sectors. The network will be dealing with:
Sharing of experience
Developing and testing the knowledge sharing system in specific tasks within the enterprises
Utilising and making the results universal for use in other enterprises.
The developed knowledge sharing system is to support mobile project workflows for the mobile project workers of the enterprise. This could be service and sales persons, technicians and consultants of the enterprise. Characteristic of such of employees is their handling of several tasks to be solved for different customers, and that they are often away from their desk. A great streamlining potential is found in giving such employees access to information and knowledge of critical importance to the project just in time of need for the knowledge required to complete the task. Such information and knowledge delivered just in time are key elements in a knowledge sharing system for mobile project workers. Also the knowledge sharing system should be capable of handling continuous reports on e.g. time consumption and material costs providing the project worker with a financial overview of the project, which is updated at all times.
Example of Application for the Carpenter
The carpenter needs to be able to see, which tasks to complete the same day. Every day or week the resident engineer prepares a detailed plan of tasks for the carpenter to complete. This will be communicated to the carpenter via the knowledge sharing system. This could also be knowledge specific to building techniques made easily accessible to the carpenter at exactly the time he requires such specialized knowledge. For example, this could be a specific data sheet made accessible to the carpenter via his handheld terminal which will save the drive to the timber yard for this information. The developing effort will result in a taylored solution for the carpenter to streamline his project workflow.
