With a focus on the mobile Internet MobileContent will make the way from concept to customer faster, shorter and easier.
MobileContent wants to provide optimal conditions of growth for initiatives in the mobile field to both new and existing enterprises.
MobileContent is based in North Denmark and it is the connecting link between international network and growth.
Mission:
MobileContent is making a proactive effort to create international networks and offers support and consultancy for the bright idea conceived by existing enterprises and innovative talents among entrepreneurs.
MobileContent inspires new thinking and provides technologies.
MobileContent is a forum for new concepts and potentials to meet.
Concept description:
MobileContent is created by Ericsson, Sonofon, Novi and IT-Akademiet with the object of positioning and developing North Denmark as the Centre of contents for mobile Internet.
North Denmark is renowned for its manufacturing of hardware for the telecommunications industry. MobileContent is the environment for focusing on what the telephone/terminal can be used for.
There is quite a leap from producing hardware and content for the Internet to producing content for a mobile Internet, a change that MobileContent will facilitate by making the resources needed available to the enterprise.
The developing work will be carried out by knowledge sharing and collaboration, primarily intiated by establishing fora for this purpose, creating networks, a test and innovative environment, and education.
MobileContent will be an international qualification centre consisting of enterprises in the line of IT and mobile technology in North Denmark. Via a close collaboration with carriers of telecommunications, manufacturers of cell phones and infrastructure for telecommunication and suppliers of content, MobileContent will make North Denmark a developing metropolis in the energy field between carriers, value added service suppliers, manufacturers of handsets, add-ons og and suppliers of qualifications (education).
The name of MobileContent should visualise two elements of what is called the third generation (3G) within telecommunications. In 3G two of the world's two fastest growing industries meet, and the going is serious – mobile telecommunications and the Internet.
MOBILE means mobile Internet access via all types of wireless units.
Over the next years you will have access to all types of information on the Internet using a mobile unit - everywhere and at all times. This will mean a change of our entire way of life.
CONTENT is for the contents and the information available via the Internet, which again is called services and applications. Here we are talking everything from company Intranet, e-mails, calendar systems, ERP to the public Internet and E-Commerce applications (the future name of which will be M-Commerce), which will be accessible via mobile units. Again, we are looking at the whole spectre from speech, text messages/-mails, data, pictures and audio.
MobileContent will bridge the players of mobile technologies and contents elements. Critical success factors to the players are:
”First to market” with new products and services
Personalising of new applications and customer services
Fast expansion of networks in keeping with time and of operational and commercially sound support systems from old systems to new systems for the carriers
A fast rollout of infrastructural support systems
Innovative commercial business models developed for the realization of shared values for partners and suppliers
Fast and efficient linking between the companies' needs for qualification and education and documentation via test and certifications of the qualifications achieved by those completing the course of education
MobileContent will be located in connection with the present players on the field in Aalborg, and physically with NOVI. This makes the perfect framework and conditions for the greatest concentration of mobility expertise in Denmark.
The partners involved (Sonofon, Ericsson, Novi and IT-Akademiet) make test equipment, technological expertise, management know-how, financing access, education and knowledge sharing available to innovative persons/enterprises and existing enterprises with ideas and concepts within mobility.
MobileContent will support and market North Denmark as a centre for developing and using the most recent solutions within information technology and mobility.
Sonofon
Is one of Denmark's 4 telephony carriers.
Today Sonofon employs more than 1,600 employees and supplies more than 900,000 customers in both cell and cable telephony.
Sonofon has 24 outlets in 17 various cities in Denmark.
Sonofon contributes to MobileContent with technology, access to tele network and support related to the set-up and operation of a mobility test laboratory.
Ericsson
In 1999 Ericsson started establishing a brand new developing centre for future telephones to the UMTS in Aalborg. This department is expected to be in close co-operation with the MobileContent Lighthouse project.
Via the global presence of the company, the participation of Ericsson will make an cornerstone in MobileContent’s capability of supporting the international sales outlets and relations of the members.
There will be a need for access to a variety of mobile technologies in the MobileContent to secure the development of Best In Class mobile services. With its leading position and knowledge in mobile technologies, Ericsson's role in the project will comprise elements related to content development and test equipment in the way of hardware and software.
NOVI
NOVI - Nordjyllands Videnpark - was inaugurated on September 8, 1989.
NOVI was created in collaboration between the industries, the trade unions, the University of Aalborg and the County of North Denmark.
NOVI is distinguished by its unique combination of elements like a science park, an environment for innovation and venture investment, and during its relatively short lifetime NOVI has achieved a central position in the awareness of many enterprises both in North Denmark and internationally.
NOVI contributes to MobileContent with housing facilities, access to the research environment, network in North Denmark and the opportunity to support entrepreneurs with business development and financing.
IT-Akademiet A/S
IT-Akademiet is a dynamic enterprise operating by the vision of being the leading provider of IT education and courses. The main focus of IT-Akademiet is the most recent technologies, e.g. Mobile Internet, WAP, Java, E-Business etc.
The enterprise set out in 1998 and has its headquarter in the Udviklingsparken in Aarhus, a growth center for newly established enterprises. Adding to this, the IT-Akademiet has branches in Aalborg, Odense, Vejle and Copenhagen.
In the beginning of the project IT-Akademiet A/S will contribute with project management courses and with qualification development throughout the project cycle. |
