| Description | The Participate project is intended to enhance the competiveness of the participating enterprises by streamlining traditional value chains using IT. The object is to make the interorganisational relations so strong that they make the value chain appear as one enterprise to customers, employees and stakeholders.
The project will design, develop and implement an IT tool to streamline the preparation, completion, implementation and dissemination of systematic collaborative processes and the development of close collaborative relations in international value chains with a North Danish weighting.
Supply Chain Management (SCM) is a well-known concept. To many, -especially minor - enterprises, the demand for an efficient use of SCM is more pressing than ever. So pressing, actually, that in many cases focusing on optimising and streamlining the supply chains is not enough - you need to actively utilize all skills and competences within the value chain. Suppliers become partners and vital components to secure the total competitiveness of the entire value chain.
However, the IT revolution has provided completely new tools and potentials for enhancing such relations. The focus for the Participate project will be the development of systems and principles for:
- the common and international sharing of experience and knowledge building across the network
- the management and development of personal competences across the network
- the development of tools and methods to reduce the time consumption on international developing projects across the network
- the development of tools and methods to improve the feeling of team spirit and motivation across the network
- the development of a shared knowledge and competence database to be used by customers, sales partners and other operators on the network
- the development and implementation of relevant managerial tools across the network
This is all to indicate routes towards and to develop and implement a concrete IT tool that is capable of developing SCM into an entity with the object of providing an actual integration between enterprises that make part of a shared value chain.
