| Description | The general purpose of the Vækstcenter Nord is to expand and develop the region to take a leading position in the Danish IT environment of growth. The project aims to create an internationally orientated developing Incubator, to attract small and medium sized enterprises wanting to work on the cutting edge of the IT development. The centre offers an innovative environment with screening of ideas and the provision of funds and capital for pilot projects and venture capital. Further the Vækstcenter Nord will make a platform for the IT based development of existing enterprises in a close co-operation with local educational institutions and the University of Aalborg.
The target group for Vækstcenter Nord is primarily the IT based entrepreneurs: Software, Internet, IT services, multimedia etc., and an enhanced use of IT in existing enterprises.
Vækstcenter Nord will host the following main activities:
The IT entrepreneur environment is made by the tangible facilities that makes it easier to get going and try things out, run a new operation, make co-operations and be inspired by others, receive support from knowledgeable business consultants etc. Fully equipped offices with IT facilities etc. can be rented with access to meeting and conference facilities. There will be access to draw on secretariat service, bookkeeping and accounting service etc.
The IT-innovation environment is the Incubator of the centre created in a collaboration with NOVI and Danish Technological Institute. NOVI and Danish Technological Institute are providing knowledge and capital to entrepreneurs. The task is solved by screening and tests of product concepts that can make a basis for the development of new products and enterprises. Funds for pilot projects and knowledge of the initiating phases can be provided by IT knowledgeable consultants and investors. For projects that look promising, actual investment capital can be provided.
The Centre for Applied IT is focused on the dissemination of the use of IT to existing companies, including consultation sessions with the companies and opportunity to try out how the various IT tools can be implemented before costly investments are made in the company, etc.
Thid not at least owing to the co-location and the cooperation between NOVI, Danish Technological Institute and the industrial board of Hjørring, both knowledge and capital are available when IT entrepreneurs, E-Business entreprises and other derivatives of the competent IT and industrial environment want to test and develop new ideas.
In the following steps a line of other partners in co-operation are prepared to secure the completion and the success: EUC Nord, EDB Højskolen, VUR, banks, and significant IT enterprises and other companies.
The establishment of Vækstcenter Nord is planned together with a line of other initiatives in an entirely new centrally located part of the city of Hjørring. According to the plan it will be centered with an attractive new cinema centre, the house of health, new mixed types of residential buildings, retail shops, cafes, independent professions etc. This way the centre can make a prototype for the future development of the network economy. |
