| Description | THE ELECTRONIC FUTURE OF THE FAMILY
PERSONALIZED MOBILE BROADBAND SERVICES
With this project Sonofon and Aalborg TVR will bring the future to North Denmark a bit faster. The world is flooded with offers on Internet services, information and news, and people are busy and on the move. Imagine you had access to your personally composed set of newspaper, radio, TV, E-mails, calendar, traffic information or games at all times, that you could always book a time with your doctor, do shopping and banking, - altogether on a simple monitor the size of a book.
We make use of newly developed small portable monitors, which are actually computers operated by the touch of a finger, combined with state-of-the-art wireless network technology and the control of news and other information to create a strong personalized tool, a family terminal, that would make people from New York to Tokyo shut their eyes wide open.
The project is utilising the latest facilities for the wireless transmission of large volumes of information, the monitors are a brand new feature, and the philosophy of personal combinations of news and information is still just in the cradle elsewhere in the world. So this is a test project putting this equipment at the disposal of two groups of test users, 150 persons altogether. For a period they can receive news from e.g. newspapers, radio news from Denmark and abroad plus the lokal ANR, live pictures from Danish TV and TV Aalborg. They will be able to do shopping and receive e-Mails, surf on the Internet, attend distance learning and play games. Operation will be simple and logical and will adjust to the current user, be it mum, dad or the eldest son. Only the news and services that the particular user wants will appear, so while one person will view the sports as the first thing with a game on the side, news from abroad and cultural arrangements might appear when the next person logs on. |
