| Description | The remote control will offer new options on
TV2/Nord Digital – the new TV channel in North Denmark
Cable based digital TV has now been definitively decided on politically with the new law on the media effective until 2004. The citizens of North Denmark may be the first to have digital TV available in a version that makes the contents interactive, and creating a convergense between the Internet and Televison.
This is the object of the project on which TV2/Nord will initiate collaboration with a line of other partners this year. The permission to digitalise the broadcasting net of TV2 in North Denmark has been granted by the Minister of Culture. The next phase will see the erection of transmitters and the development of TV programs that are suited for being interactive.
The TV2/Nord is hoping that the practically new regional TV-channel can be transmitting from around September 1, and that makes it operative for the municipal election this autumn.
Much more Television for the Citizens of North Denmark
With the digital channel, TV2/Nord will be able to broadcast a lot more regional news than today where the regional programs are ”windows” on the national broadcasting from TV2. In the new world the channel is regional, and ”windows” can be opened to national programs on TV2/Nord Digital.
The number of extra hours to broadcast is yet too early to say. It will depend on the economy on the bottom line as a cutting edge position in developing interactive TV programs with the access to supplementing the broadcasting with further information in the way of text and video is expensive .
A lot more options for the Citizens of North Denmark
In the new digital channel the Internet or parts of it is integrated in the TV set. E-business and home-banking should be made available over the remote control, and it is planned to establish a regional activity and event calendar with text supplemented by film and video clip.
Also the commercial context offers a number of options. E.g. on a long term, using your TV set you should be able to walk around in houses and flats that are on sale, enabling you to get an impression in TV quality of what could be a future home. Another way of real estate advertising, and the parallels may be found on other areas.
TV2/Nord Digital will be extended over a 3-year period through a developing company based in Frederikshavn. |
