IT Infrastructure
The object of the theme of IT Infrastructure is to provide the best Web access possible to the citizens, the private enterprises and the public sector of North Denmark. Best possible should be understood in the widest sense of the phrase, taking into account that parameters like ease of use, price, capacity etc. all should be brought into play. Additionally, a mobile access to the Web is required.
The theme includes the following fields of effort:
End-user Net The End-user Net is an in-house network integrating the IT workstations of the users and providing access to the networked community via one or several access nets (see below). The end-users are private and public enterprises or institutions as well as private citizens or users in the region of North Denmark. A special focus for this sub-theme is the dissemination of digital televison and the fusion of Internet and television.
Access Net Access net constitutes the common systems of transport between a geographically defined number of end-user nets and the nets of transport (see below), comprising both cable based and cordless systems. Access Net also includes the support of mobility for permanent as well as temporary end-user nets in that area.
Nets of Transport The nets of transport constitute the systems of transport in the region which by connecting the end-user nets via Access Net create the comprehensive national and international infrastructure. So the Transport Net is to be regarded as ”Information Highways” of the region.
Facilities for the Access, Storage and Distribution of Information This field of effort is intended to further the development of the total infrastructural solutions across the individual providers including facilities for the access, storage and distribution of information regionally, nationally and internationally, and the support of mobility. The aim of the field of effort includes creating facilities for the support of projects within the three other main themes.
